In the beginning of the 16th century there arose, in the İznik blue and white ceramics production, a new decorative style, called ‘Helezonî Tuğrakeş’ or ‘Haliç İşi’ (Golden Horn Work). The pattern was formed by small leaves and floral designs winding around branches applied on opal-glass. The Haliç İşi Bowl is inspired, in terms of form and design, from the İznik blue and white plate dating from 1535-1545.
