Beykoz Nostalji Wine Bottle
Beykoz glassware was first produced in workshops in Beykoz, a district on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus strait, during the reign of Selim III (1789-1807). This
glassware is characterized by cut and painted decoration executed by hand on opal or clear glass. Gilding with green overtones is often combined with colors.
The designs are painted onto the glass, which is then fired at a low temperature to fix the gilding to the surface. Motifs generally consist of parsley leaves, flowers with leaves and stems, hearts, star and crescent, circles, undulating broken lines and hatching.
Most of this ware also has shallow cut motifs filled with gilded decoration.
Facsimile reproductions of Beykoz glassware are produced by craftsmen using
traditional methods for the Paşabahçe company.
